Cain Greenhouse is proud to be a family-owned and operated greenhouse and plant nursery, located in Merrill, Wisconsin. All items are grown without pesticides, sprays, chemicals, fertilizers, etc.- just sunshine, water, and care. We strive to give each plant love and attention, as if we are going to plant it in our own gardens and give the food to our children.
We offer fruit and vegetable starts, annual and perennial bedding plants, WI native flowers, climbing flower arrangements, herb starter plants, and flower and fruit hanging baskets.
New additions in 2025... We are expanding our garden art selection! We will have a much larger collection of crafts-- including wind chimes, spinners, feeders, bird houses, and much more. We will offer bags of soil and mulch from Hsu's Growing Supply! These will be available to purchase both during our business hours and as self-serve. We are also vastly expanding our WI native flower selection. Be sure to check out our flower page to see what we will have to offer!
Cain Greenhouse prides itself on growing every single open-pollinated (over half are heirloom!) plant from seed, by hand, by the owner herself. All of our plants are rated for zone 4 by our seed suppliers, unless noted, so you can feel comfortable growing them in the harsh Wisconsin winters.
We often have posts and videos shared both on Facebook and Instagram of how we collect and save our seeds, planting and gardening practices we use, and other helpful suggestions to make your garden techniques more sustainable.

Our two boys are helping fill trays while Holli plants pepper seeds. Next will be flowers for hanging baskets and climbing flower arrangements!
1/9: Second greenhouse update...
Shelving is put together and is in place. Both the bottom layer and top shelves will have plants. In the picture are our two helpers, Beckett and Elijah.
Below are pictures from our past selection:
Vegetables are grown slow and cold, to be sure they are healthy and hardened off for planting.
Climbing flower arrangement pots are a stunner and a popular pick!
Annual flowers are sold in 4packs and a nice way to feed the pollinators.
We sell gift certificates all year long! They are the perfect gift for your gardening friends.
